For the third edition of R² Festival, Reinier Zonneveld returns to Spaarnwoude on August 15, 2026, this year with a completely new live show concept.
July 16, 2026 – Dutch techno artist Reinier Zonneveld will unveil a completely new live show concept during the third edition of his R² Festival on August 15, 2026 at Spaarnwoude Park, pushing the boundaries of live techno even further. The show has been three years in the making and this year features a specially designed hexagonal stage with a holographic visual system. It is without a doubt the most complex and multifaceted production of his career.
At the heart of the show is a hexagonal stage with an integrated holographic visual system, fully synchronized with Reinier Zonneveld's live set. The setup has been designed exclusively for the location, bringing together music, technology and visuals. Holography and 3D visuals are projected from multiple angles, creating an immersive show that places the audience right in the middle of the spectacle. With this, Reinier Zonneveld delivers the first live show of this scale within a techno performance.
In addition, a further developed version of Reinier Zonneveld's own AI system (R²) plays a key role in the production. With it, he explores new possibilities within live performance and uses technology as an extension of his creative process. It also offers a first glimpse of his new project, which is set to be the first in the world to protect and prioritize the artistic control and rights of artists in AI.
“We have been working on this for three years,” says Reinier Zonneveld. “‘R²’ is now a completely new show, built from the ground up and unlike anything we have done before. The hexagonal stage and the holographic 3D design were developed to give people an experience they can only have at this show. The audience doesn't just hear new music, they are right in the middle of it.”
Alongside the premiere of the new R² live show on the mainstage, this year's edition features seven additional stages hosted by various labels and clubs, with performances by 6EJOU, Brenda Serna, Bonnie Strange, Charly Lownoise B2B Mental Theo, Human Rias, Klaudia Gawlas, Kiki Solvej, Kruelty, Lari Luke, Oliver Weiter, Reinier Zonneveld (Live), Sandy Kletz, Secret Cinema and VE/RA, among others. In just three years, R² Festival has grown from a one-off concept into Reinier Zonneveld's own festival platform. With every performance, he raises the bar for what live techno can be.
